OUR
HISTORY
The
SSS Network / Krabi, Evacuation Center and Clinic
Facility is located at Ao Nang in Krabi province,
approximately 3 hours by road from Phuket.
As this region was fast becoming the gateway to the diving
islands of Phi Phi, Koh Lanta and Koh Mook; this area was
in significant need of a "first responder" to diving
related accidents.
In December 2003, the Ao Nang / Krabi Evacuation Center
opened its doors in conjunction with the partnership of the
Phuket International Hospital (PIH), to the local dive community.
Its objectives were parallel to those of our evacuation
center on Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand and Khao Lak in
Phang Nga Province; to serve as a place to attain dive safety
education, voice questions about diving medicine, and ultimately
to assist with the logistics and be the initial center for
dive injury assessments, stabilizations and eventual evacuation
to our Phuket recompression chamber. This facility has been well received by the local
community and will only continue to grow as awareness about
its presence increases.
The SSS Network / Krabi Clinic has the following services:

OUR
STAFF
The SSS Network/Krabi Outpost is maintained
on a 24 Hour Emergency "on call" Basis year round, but it is staffed in its high season by a team of full
time professionals trained in areas of emergency and
diving medicine. The accreditation at a minimum is that of Dive Medical Technician (DMT).
All staff have been internationally
trained and received certifications from some of the most well
known organizations for Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine.
Some of these include the Diving and Disease Research Center
(DDRC) in the UK, the Royal Adelaide Hospital in Australia (RAH),
the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology
(NBDHMT), the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medicine Society
(UHMS), and the Divers Alert Network (DAN).
The clinic is part of the international SSS Network, a global
hyperbaric medicine provider, and operated by Hyperbaric

OUR
FACILITY & EQUIPMENT
The
primary aim of the Krabi Outpost is to assess patients
who have suspected decompression illness (DCI), and recommend
further evaluation if necessary to the Phuket multiplace
recompression chamber. In the event of emergencies the
staff is trained and are capable of stabilizing patients
and evacuating them via ambulance to either the recompression
chamber or Phuket International Hospital. This is the
first and only service of its kind for the area. As well
as providing these services, substantial time and effort
is invested into the education and training of the local
professional divers in subjects such as Dive Accident
Management and Prevention, Oxygen Provision and General
Dive Safety.
